MACOMB, IL — Angela LaFrance, of Disability Resources at Íæż½ã½ã, has been named the February 2026 Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month.

LaFrance is recognized for demonstrating exceptional enthusiasm in her work, consistently approaching each interaction with energy, empathy and a genuine commitment to student success. In her role within Disability Resources, she routinely goes above and beyond normal job expectations by proactively identifying barriers, developing creative accommodations and advocating tirelessly for equitable access across campus.

Her collaborative spirit strengthens partnerships with faculty, staff and administrators, contributing meaningfully to the positive image, mission and forward direction of the University. Students benefit from a supportive and inclusive environment where they feel heard, respected and empowered to achieve their academic goals. Faculty and staff gain a trusted resource who promotes accessibility, understanding and best practices. At the institutional level, her efforts reinforce WIU's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and student-centered excellence.

Beyond her formal job responsibilities, LaFrance spearheaded a pet food giveaway during a SNAP benefits cycle when recipients were not receiving assistance. Her initiative allowed students and community members to keep their pets without fear of being unable to feed them. More than 100 students and local residents benefited from the effort. Recognizing an ongoing need, she has continued to work independently with individuals seeking assistance and has organized monthly pet product giveaways to further support the campus and the surrounding community.

Through her professionalism, integrity, compassion and dedication, LaFrance exemplifies the University's core values. Her work enhances individual student experiences while elevating the overall culture of accessibility and inclusion at Íæż½ã½ã, making the institution a more welcoming and supportive place for all.

As the February 2026 Civil Service Employee of the Month, LaFrance will receive a $100 stipend (before taxes), a plaque, a reserved parking space and recognition through a University press release. Her photo will also be displayed by the Office of Human Resources. She will be eligible for consideration for the Civil Service Employee of the Year Award in December.

The Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month Award was established to recognize Civil Service employees who demonstrate exceptional enthusiasm, effort and quality in job performance by going above and beyond their regular job duties. Nominations are placed as a permanent record in the recipient's personnel file.
