MACOMB, IL - - Meet Franco Perez, a graduate of Íæż½ã½ã Illinois Emergency Management (‘24) and a masters graduate in Public Safety Administration (‘25), who was hired as an instructor of Emergency Management at WIU.
Perez completed the full application process for faculty positions through WIU's job portal, which included submitting a resume, cover letter, and a statement detailing how he met the job requirements, as well as providing three professional references.
Perez shared that the interview process lasted about five hours. Approximately three hours were spent answering questions from various faculty members, followed by two hours that included a campus tour, a lunch break and a lecture he delivered on emergency management.
"The school of WIU had some great connections and avenues to agencies, non profit organizations and companies to volunteer or intern to gain experience," Perez said. "I was able to apply my classroom knowledge in these environments and gain hands-on experience here."
Perez shares that it is a privilege to work at WIU because he always gets to stay connected with the school. He plans to work hard for the students to learn current and emerging topics of emergency management.
