Van Vleet Named April Employee of the Month

MACOMB, IL - - ż Associate Director for Alumni Relations Carrie Van Vleet has been named the April 2025 Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month.
Van Vleet’s nominator said they were inspired by her unwavering enthusiasm, exceptional performance and genuine love for WIU.
“She is not only a dedicated employee but also one of WIU’s most enthusiastic supporters,” they said. “Her passion for the university shines through in everything she does. Whether it’s engaging with colleagues, students or the broader community, her positive energy is infectious.”
Van Vleet shows exceptional commitment to spreading WIU’s message, which is evident in her proactive approach to her job, acting as an ambassador for the University.
Her nominator said Van Vleet personifies everything the University stands for.
“Her contributions to WIU are invaluable, and she truly exemplifies what it means to be a proud and committed Leatherneck.”
As the Civil Service Employee of the Month, Van Vleet will receive a $100 stipend (before taxes), a plaque, a reserved parking space and recognition in WIU communications. She will also be eligible for the Civil Service Employee of the Year Award in December.
The Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month Award was established in 2010 through an endowment created by the Goldfarbs. The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the annual Employee of the Year Award.
